Employers may on occasion not be sure whether they need to address an issue with an employee as a disciplinary or capability matter.  There may be times where an employee is not performing the role to the standard required, not because the employee is not trying to do their best, but because they do not have the skills, aptitude or ability to achieve the standards required.
